“I’VE NEVER FELT MORE LOVE IN A ROOM…”

COBBLESTONES hosted our 3rd annual No Kid Hungry-Cooking Matters event this past Monday night, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, (9) other member restaurants statewide, and (4) additional restaurants that joined at Cobblestones, in collaboration to create one incredible fundraising event on behalf of hungry children and families in our state.

Incredible sponsors, a sold out room of supportive guests, dozens of volunteer chefs, managers and employees from moonstones, Burton’s Grill, Island Creek Oyster Bar and The Bancroft, Ana Jabar Oyomeni and a student-team from Youth-Build joined forces to “Share Our Strength” in raising 40+% more funds than we did in either of the previous two years!  With a goal of increasing our raise from $23K last year to $30K this year, as of yesterday, our total was over $36K with more money pledged!!  How cool is that.

The money, to feed children, is the reason we were there.  However, the spirit of generosity exhibited by all involved: those who spent money and those who sacrificed money and gave of their time, and those vendors who donated food and beverage, and the spirit of teamwork and excellence in providing a 5 course, 5 star meal created between (5) restaurants that have never worked together in such a way–chefs helping chefs, managers from Burtons and Bancroft and moonstones assisting the chefs and the servers throughout the event–all that led one of the members of the No Kid Hungry team to note the incredible harmony throughout our event.  The feel-good was incredible, every bit as special as the delicious food!  Ken Woodrow, our director of operations likes to use a famous quote from poet-writer-activist Maya Angelou; I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.   

I believe this sentiment was in full force on Monday night–the positive energy powerful.
